Summer Reruns

it happened again.

at 5:20 i heard the familiar sound of mini-blinds being run into. then the stealthy swoop of my friend, the bat. this time it landed on the mini-blinds and that's where i had to put the pot over him. sliding the plexiglass under the pot was a little more tricky since the blinds ran interference. but everything was under control in 15 minutes or less.

this is not a call i'm looking forward to making, "uh, hi mary jo. i'm just calling to tell you about the bat that keeps getting into my apartment around 5:30 every morning. oh, and p.s. my freezer isn't working anymore."

how is he getting in? i can't explain it. but he's getting on my nerves.

this is so strange! last night i was talking to a guy named dave (friend of a friend) who was telling a very similar story. he just moved into a new place, and the first night a bat got into his room and was swooping around. the next day dave told his roommate about the bat, and the roommate said "oh yeah, he's cool, huh?"

i kind of think my bat is cool too, but not when he wakes me up at 5:30. i told my landlady and her advice was to catch it in a rag and STOMP on it. i said, "i don't think i can do that." she then told me we don't need anymore bats and to make sure and throw the rag in the dumpster. this is not going to happen. if it gets in again i'm taking it to the suburbs.

Gross, how could your landlady actually think a person would small a small animal in one of her apartments. She must be missing a few connections herself. I think taking the offending bat elsewhere is a good idea LN.

Okay, so I can't type...I meant to say how could your landlady think a person would SMASH a small animal...

It does sound like your landlady is a little crazy. Bats can carry rabies, and that's just scary.

Bats eat mosquitoes. Don't smash the bat. They are already in a major decline.

And don't stomp on spiders either.
